This scene was painted in August, 2007 on a cloudy, rainy day at Playa Lagartillo. The cranes in the distance are at the site of the new hotel in Hacienda Pinilla. The beach was uninviting. Branches and debris littered the shore and the ocean was brown from muddy water pouring out the estuary. Details were worked out quickly in an effort to avoid getting the painting wet from the storm.
