This painting progressed alongside “Tangled Roots” and was finished in early June 2007. The scene is the view from under a canopy of mangrove trees on the opposite side of the Lagartillo Estuary from where “Tangled Roots” was painted. This is a peaceful setting in the shade. There are many stumps to sit on, the waves break just to the left and the ground underneath moves with hermit crabs.
